Pay and Allowances Latest

February 4, 2015

Dear Unite member,

PLEASE SHARE THIS NOTIFICATION AND ATTACHED INFORMATION WITH COLLEAGUES AND DISPLAY ON WORKPLACE NOTICE BOARDS.

Unite is consulting [by postal ballot] its members in SCC on whether to accept proposed changes to Pay & Allowances.

THE BALLOT WILL START ON MONDAY 2ND FEBRUARY AND FORMS MUST BE RETURNED BY NO LATER THAN MIDDAY ON 16TH FEBRUARY

If you do not receive a ballot form by Friday 6th February please let us know by calling 023 8083 ext 4327 or email: mark.wood@southampton.gov.uk and we will ensure you receive a duplicate in time to vote

IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE YOUR SAY – USE YOUR VOTE!

The Unite Shop Stewards Committee has met and decided to recommend that you vote to accept these proposals in that they have achieved the following positive outcomes:

1. Lifting hundreds of low paid employees up to a Living Wage as the minimum pay rate in SCC, enshrined into contracts of employment
2. Gaining new rights to weekend, overtime, shift and unsocial hours payments for UNITE members who currently do not receive such enhancements
3. Reducing grade length and overlap by removing a number of the bottom pay points in each grade, moving staff up through the grade, whilst maintaining the top pay points
4. Achieving the objective of equalising pay and allowances whilst ensuring the vast majority of our members are better off, or at least no worse off than before the review
5. Moving Craft Workers onto Job Evaluated pay grades, resulting in an increase in current and future pay rates – or at least no decrease – for all Craft employees.
6. Introducing non-contributory parking for those members contracted to use their car for work
